The 3rd round of the All Japan Rally Championships took part in the surrounding areas of Kyoto's Nantan city. This rally is an all tarmac round and was blessed with fine weather and many supporters gathered to watch.
In the opening SS1, tarmac king, Katsuda retired, leaving the rally wide open. Last years winner, Ishida, took full advantage and set the best times in SS1 and the next consecutive 8 stages to lead the rally. The second placed driver challenged Ishida but victory was sealed during the night stage, where Ishida came home to finish with a 12.4 second lead. This win was great for Ishida, and it was also his first win of the 2008 season. We look forward to the next round! |
