The Civic Inter series is now in the second half of the season and round 5 was held at the famous Fuji Speedway. The weather forecast for the weekend turned out to be unreliable. It would be sunny and clear at one point but then it would suddenly start to rain. The unpredictable weather conditions made it very difficult to set the cars up correctly. Just before the qualifying session, the rain started to fall. TEIN user Matsui pushed hard in the wet conditions to grab pole position! Race day turned out to a fine day and the 15 lap race got under way.
Matsui had a good start and was able to keep his position as he dove into the first corner. From then on, Matsui started to gradually build on his lead, but there was trouble in the following pack. The 3rd placed car retired after coming in contact with another car. TEIN users battled it out side by side as the fierce battle started to heat up. During the 8th lap, however there were suspicious looking clouds developing and on the large display screen you could see the wipers moving on the cars. By the 11th lap there was so much rain, pools of water appeared on the course, cars were continuously spinning or crashing off the course, and finally the red flag came out. The race was stopped but standing at the top was Matsui! It was the first win of the season for him and it now puts him in 1st place of the series championship. |
