Changes for models other than the SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STi GDB-E
The popular SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STi D type has a wheel P.C.D of 100. This has changed to 114.3 for E-type models and after. The actual change was not the P.C.D. but the front knuckle measurement. So the front strut type is not compatible for GDB-D types. Here is a simple explanation of what has changed.
Firstly, please have a look at (Photo 1). The left is the new GDB-E type front strut, and the right is the old GDB-D type front strut. As you can see, there has been an obvious change and the knuckle bolt installation hole for the E type is a lot bigger. There is approx. a 10mm difference between the previous models.

Next, if you look at (Photo 2), this is the knuckle bolt installation part. The left is the E type, the right is the D type front struts. As you can see in the photo, the knuckle bolt installation part is approx. 5mm wider. Because of these improvements for the facelift models, the D type strut can not be installed on to the E type.

For this reason, a shock absorber exclusively for the E type has been developed. For customer inquiries, please not only check the year/ model etc but also whether if your vehicle model is before or after the knuckle change, so we can offer you the correct product information.
The S.TECH and HIGH.TECH low down springs are compatible for both D type and E types, so they share the same part number.
