| Regarding the installation of the front turning preventing bracket and rear shock absorber installation direction for the HONDA ODYSSEY (RB1) with AFS. |
In the all new Odyssey has, as an option, an AFS system. This auto leveling light system adjusts the light height level according to the number of passengers, amount of luggage etc in the vehicle. The sensor for this feature is attached to the front and rear left shock absorber, so there will be a difference in the parts according to whether or not this feature is installed to the vehicle.
The TYPE WAGON and SUPER WAGON have been designed to suit vehicle without AFS, so please take care with the parts and method of installation.
1. Installing the front turning preventing bracket.
Up until now, the TYPE WAGON and the SUPER WAGON have not been compatible to non AFS vehicles and the turning preventing bracket has not been able to be installed. (Photo 1) An AFS compatible model has been released, and it is compatible for both AFS equipped and not equipped models, and require the installation of the turning prevention bracket. Because the turning prevention bracket for the left side and right side differ, please take plenty of care not to mistake them. (Photo 2)
*Turning preventing bracket is removed from the OE shock absorber then installed.
2. The installation direction of the rear shock absorber.
Up until now, the direction or the installation sides have not mattered for non AFS vehicles for the TYPE WAGON and the SUPER WAGON. The new AFS compatible model has now fixed left and right installation sides. The correct sides of the shock absorber are written on the caution sticker, R/L, on the shock absorber body. When installing the rear shock absorber on the left side, it is necessary to install, as shown in the diagram, with the sensor bracket facing in the vehicle’s forward direction. (Reference diagram) |
