The 6th round of the 2010 Super Taikyu series was held at Sendai Hi-land circuit on a tight one day schedule, and the engines were roaring for the start of the qualifying round at 08:40 in the morning. In ST-3 class, 2 TEIN users are in the running to take the championship title this season and they both set a blistering pace. Both A & B drivers in the #27 BMW M3 set top times to take pole position giving them bonus points to put them even closer to take the championship title. The #39 NSX, also in the running to take the 2010 title, overcame some minor problems to grab the second position on the grid.
With all drivers still recovering from the qualifying rounds, the 400km race got underway at 12:30pm. Not even worrying about the long race ahead, the #27 BMW M3 and #39 NSX were driving hard going head to head from the opening lap. It was the #39 NSX who took the advantage to take the lead and held off the #27 BMW M3 for over 40laps. On the 47th lap both cars made their routine pit stops and were back on track. Just when the #39 NSX started pulling away and things were looking good for the team, trouble struck! The #39 NSX was back in the pit lane for an unexpected pit stop which pretty much gave the race away.
The #27 BMW M3 was now left in front and with no real competition, he was able to race home to take the checkered flag! This was his third win of the season and put him well within grasp of the championship title. Second position went to the #14 FAIRLADY Z also running on TEIN, making it a 1-2 finish for TEIN equipped cars!
The final round of the 2010 season will be held at the famous Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway, and it will decide the 2010 champion, so stay tuned for more exciting action from all TEIN users!! |
