The 3rd round of the 2010 Russian Rally Championship (RRC), Rally Slavaskij Kubok, also known as the Slavic Cup, was held from the 21st to 22nd May in the surrounding area of Braslaw, Belarus. It was the first time for the event to be held in Belarus and over 50 entrants gathered to take part in the 385km long rally. P.Flodin teamed up with E. Axelsson for this rally, driving the TYPE Gr.N equipped Impreza WRX STI (GRB) for the Uspenskiy Rally Tecnica (URT) team.
Day 1 saw many drivers forced to retire early in the stages proving how tough this round really is. But this didn’t stop top contenders P.Flodin and A.Zhigunov, also driving with TYPE Gr.N dampers. P.Flodin set the fastest time in SS1 but unfortunately spun his car in SS2. P.Flodin commented, “We were swung around at stage 2, and we raised the dust and I was lost in it…” Luckily there were no major problems and he continued to set the fastest times in SS3 and SS4.
Day 2 saw P.Flodin and A.Zhigunov battling it out even harder setting the top times one after another. A.Zhigunov had slight problems on SS7 and SS10 but apart from that he was right behind P.Flodin. After all 12 stages were completed the TYPE Gr.N dominated the rally with P.Flodin setting 8 fastest times to win the Slavic Cup, and A.Zhigunov setting 4 fastest times to finish 9.2 seconds behind in 2nd place. A well deserved 6th place finish went to S.Uspenskiy also driving a TYPE Gr.N equipped URT Impreza WRX STI (GRB).
