The Twin Ring Motegi circuit was the venue for the 7^th and final round of the 2008 Super Taikyu series.

For this round both the qualifying session and the final race was all held on the one day to make way for the special end of the season oval battle. With more pressure and less time to set the cars up and analyze the data, the #39 TEIN user remarkably ran a class record setting time to grab pole position. In the ST3 class, there were 3 TEIN users looking to improve on their final position for the season.

 

The afternoon race session was held in unusually warm autumn conditions with the temperature rising up to 20 degrees. The road surface temperature rose to 27 degrees, making it ideal race conditions. All the teams made their final settings to suit the conditions as the 105 lap, 500 km final race of the season got under way at 11:55am.

 

All competitors in all classes started their final battle but it was in the ST3 class that saw all the action. The #15 car started late during the qualifying session, but it was setting lap times similar to those set during the qualifying round. It pushed hard all the way up to 2^nd position, and was looking to take the lead. Just after the mid point of the race, the #15 car drove hard to overtake the leading #39 car. Furthermore, it decided not to change its tires in the final pit stop, as part of its strategy to extend its lead. As the race went on, the only thing left was for the #15 car to meet the checkered flag, but on the 90^th lap it started suffering from mechanical trouble and was forced to make an unexpected pit stop. This dropped its position down to 6th place. The #39 car took full advantage and drove like there was no tomorrow right until the end to finish in 2^nd position!

 

The ST3 class TEIN user #39 car finished on the podium in 2^nd position, giving him enough points to finish the 2008 season in 3^rd overall position. This concludes the 2008 Super Taikyu series but please look forward to all the exciting action from all TEIN users in 2009.
