British Rally Championship Rd.6
-Wales Rally GB-
D.Higgins Finishes 3rd in BRC!
The final round of the 2008 British Rally Championship (BRC), "Wales Rally GB", was held from 4th to 7th December around the Cardiff and Swansea area in Wales. This rally was a dual scoring round with day 1 as the 6th round and day 2 the 7th round of the BRC. It was also a joint round with the final round of the P-WRC.
D.Higgins and his brother M.Higgins were tied for first place in the championship, and G. Wilks was just 2 points behind. This meant the fight for the title was down to these 3 drivers.

The snowy and freezing weather created hazardous conditions on day 1 and some SS had to be cancelled or shortened. This set the mood for things to come in the difficult rally. M.Higgins was already one victim and during SS3, he drove off course. D.Higgins following behind, made sure his brother was safe, but lost valuable time. He finished the first day, 3rd in BRC and 5th overall in P-WRC.

The road conditions for day 2 were extremely tough and many entrants were forced to retire. D.Higgins was another victim to the ice. He lost grip during a high speed corner and ended up sliding 70m off the course. Luckily the damage to his car was minimal and he was able to restart on day 3 through the super rally system.

After recovering from his incidents on day 2 and day 3, D.Higgins drove like there was no tomorrow and finished day 3 in 8th overall position, 5th in BRC. Even with the regretful accident on day 2, D.Higgins finished the 2008 BRC season on the podium in 3rd overall position!! Now with more experience and miles under his car, we can expect more great action from him next year!

Privateers, H.Evans/I.Williams drove steadily throughout the rally, but in the final stage they damaged their oil pan when a rock hit the sump guard. This unfortunately forced them to retire from the rally. But with a 5th place finish in BRC on day 1, the TQ.com team, headed by H.Evans, earned enough points to finish the season in 2nd overall in the team ranking.

Please look forward to another action packed season next year! The first round of the 2009 BRC season, "Bulldog International Rally North Wales", will be held in northern Wales at the end of March.
