Round 2 of the 2008 British Rally Championship (BRC) “Jim Clark International” was held in Scotland. This is the first tarmac rally for the year, and TEIN staff provided full support! How did the rally turn out?

 

All 17 stages of this season’s first tarmac rally were held around Duns in northern part of Britain.

D. Higgins, aiming for the top, had a stroke of bad luck during SS8 in leg 1. After landing a huge jump, he suddenly hit a hole, damaged his radiator and ended up losing cooling fluid. D. Higgins and co-driver I. Thomas managed to make it back to the service park by using a block of wood to fill in the hole in the radiator. While the mechanics repaired the damaged radiator, TEIN engineers worked on the understeer problems and adjusted the shock absorber settings. This apparently hit home as they finished leg 1 in 2nd place.

 

In the next leg, they drove consistently, until the final SS where they were dealt with transmission trouble. Due to this, unfortunately, they lost too much time and D. Higgins/ I. Thomas pair finished the rally in 3rd place! But together with their 3rd place finish in round 1, this puts the pair now in 1st overall place in their class!!

 

The very busy D. Higgins, I. Thomas pair headed off to China the following day for the 1st round of the China Rally Championships. This is also a tarmac rally, so we all expect a great performance from them and wish them best!!

 

As for the privateers H. Evans and I. Williams, also using TEIN shock absorbers, they finished in a very respectful 11th place. The next round of the BRC is also a tarmac round, and it will be held in D. Higgins’ hometown, Isle of Man. So we are expecting another great performance from him!!
